Tristar announces the acquisition of Topcom

01 Feb 2012
Tristar, one of Smartware’s successful daughter companies and global leader in consumer appliances, announces the acquisition of Belgian company Topcom. This purchase strengthens Tristar’s existing range with three new product categories: communications, electronics and baby health.

Tristar will be in the position to lend it’s expertise to products such as baby monitors, blood pressure and heart rate monitors and telephones. The Topcom organization recently went through a difficult trading period. Tristar has made an agreement with the responsible curator in order to continue the activities. The central services are stationed in the Tristar headquarters in Tilburg. The Topcom sales offices in Belgium, Spain, Sweden, Slovakia and Hong Kong all remain operational.

Wout Jan Wessels Boer, Managing Director of Tristar says: "This expansion is a good illustration of our successful organic growth strategy which we link to growth through acquisitions. We want to be providing the European market with leading and dynamic consumer lifestyle products. The Topcom offer is an excellent complement to our current package and enables us to provide our customers an even more diversified offering. Moreover, it fits perfectly into our commitment to quality products accessible to a wide audience. Or as we say, Quality Should not be a luxury '

Tristar is active in almost all European countries. Headquartered in Tilburg. Tristar is part of Smartwares. Through four divisions, Smartwares provides products to all major retail chains across Europe in the field of Consumer Care (cleaning, fashion, household items), Light & Safety (light fixtures, smoke detectors, etc), Decoration & Connectivity (brushes, light switches, cabling) and Lifestyle (household appliances, audio / video, outdoor).
